Healthy Hound Playground is a dog boarding and day care facility that opened its doors in 2013. They are located about 10 minutes from Chantilly and 15 minutes from Centreville, right down Route 28 at the Innovation Avenue or Old Ox Road Exits.

The experienced staff consistently interacts with playful day care dogs and provides both mental and physical stimulation. This positive stimulation is an essential ingredient for dogs to learn how to interact properly with both their counterparts and humans. Day care dogs enjoy 100% of their time in a safe, active, and cage-free environment. The facility was specifically designed with a flexible configuration in order to have the ability to divide the day care dogs based on size, temperament, and activity levels…or to allow the dogs the run of the entire 4000 square feet of fenced in indoor space if energy and size levels allow.
Unlike most other doggie day care and boarding facilities in Northern Virginia, Healthy Hound Playground provides regular outdoor potty breaks for all of its four-legged visitors, so that dogs are not unlearning his or her potty training, and they keep their good habits! For a typical daycare stay, dogs are treated to at least 3 to 4 potty breaks during the day, and for overnight dog boarding guests, six or more breaks are provided during a 24-hour period.

Although sleeping quarters are spacious, clean, and comfortable, overnight guests do not spend their evenings alone. There is an on-site overnight manager that watches over the dogs to ensure all boarding guests are safe and comfortable. Owners are welcome and encouraged to bring their dog’s favorite blanket, toys, treats, and regular food from home to ensure that each dog feels as comfortable as possible during their boarding stay. Often, community-sleeping arrangements are made with the staff to provide the extra attention needed to those dogs that have trouble sleeping away from home.

Healthy Hound Playground is proud to boast a resident Animal Behaviorist, Mark Stone, who has 8 years of experience in training animals for both behavior and socialization aspects. Mark also provides expert one-on-one behavior training for owners that need extra assistance with dogs that possess obsessive-compulsive, aggression, or other behavioral issues. His love, patience, ability and experience have proven successful time and again with even the most difficult to train dogs.
