During cage-free dog daycare at Northern VA and Rockville, MD's Healthy Hound Playground, your pup is paired with dogs of similar activity level and size. Our playrooms are always supervised with attendants that have had the benefit of training with a 20 year dog daycare veteran. Daycare is a great way for your pup to learn positive socialization behavior, get much needed exercise, as well as have companionship and stimulation during times you may need to be away from home...or work from home! Dogs of all ages and activity levels will enjoy coming for a day of fellowship and friends at Healthy Hound Playground.

Intro Day Appointments - Sterling Location Only

If you are a new client coming to our Sterling location we require that you make an appointment for your dog to be introduced into our pack. The intro is part of a regular full day or half day of daycare for your dog.

You may schedule this in our online portal by adding the service "Intro Day!" (under "Additional Services") to your daycare reservation.

You may drop your dog off at any time prior to their intro time. We will introduce them into the playroom as soon as we are able. Each dog will spend some time in a large canine cottage prior to being introduced into the pack. This allows them time to acclimate to the smells and sounds of our facility, and in our experience, offers the best opportunity for a successful integration.

We stagger times for introductions so that we may give each dog the attention they deserve, to provide them the best chance of being successful at our facility.

Spay/Neuter Policy

We accept intact female pups up to age 6 months for both daycare (group play) and boarding. We do not accept intact females over age 6 months for either daycare, day boarding or boarding, but we do accept them for grooming only.

We accept intact male pups up to age 9 months for daycare (group play) and boarding. We still accept intact males over 9 months for boarding and day boarding, but not for group play. We also accept intact males for grooming.

Individual Daycare

If your dog does well with humans but for any reason isn’t a candidate for group play, we offer our Individual Daycare Program. Your dog can come for the day and receive extra one-on-one dedicated staff attention from our Pet Care team, go out for longer outdoor potty breaks, stay in a large, premium canine cottage, and perhaps do an activity such as a run on our doggy treadmill at no additional charge. The cost for Individual daycare is the same as Group daycare.

Vaccines

Please note that we will need vaccination records prior to your appointment. You may email or upload them to your customer profile.

As a gentle reminder, at Healthy Hound it is the customer’s responsibility to provide vaccination records in order to use our services. Our staff is not responsible for calling vets.

Rabies – Required for dogs over 4 months
Distemper – Required for adult dogs. Puppies must have begun their vaccination series and stay current.
Bordetella – Required
Canine Influenza – Will soon be required!
Lepto – Highly Encouraged – Note: If your dog receives a 3 year Distemper/Lepto combination vaccine, the Lepto portion is only good for 1 year!

Pack Introductions & Evaluations

At Healthy Hound, your dog’s playgroup introduction/evaluation will be on their first day of daycare, and there is no extra charge for this service. (Sterling location new clients are required to make an appointment for your dog to be introduced into our pack.)

After you drop off your dog for their first day, we will introduce them into the playroom as soon as we are able. We stagger times for introductions so that we may give each dog the attention they deserve, to provide them the best chance of being successful at our facility.

A trained staff member will gradually integrate your dog with the appropriate pack. There is not a standard duration for an introduction – some dogs take only a few minutes, while others can take longer. After the introduction has occurred, and your pup has been given some time to adjust, you will receive a call from the supervisor to advise you on how things went. To ensure the playroom stays as calm as possible, we do not allow parents to view the integration process.
